Corinne Bailey Rae, wow. Another British breakthrough artist. Who would have thought that she would win the hearts of people around the globe with her own fusion of pop, jazz, and blues? Hearing the songs found on her eponymous debut album will give one that soothing, smooth-listening "feel." She has this distinct sound that just gets to you, reminiscent of Erykah Badu, Mary J. Blige, Norah Jones, and even Macy Gray. Too bad she wasn’t able to bring home a Grammy or a Brit statuette for all the nominations that she got. But hey, awards are all superficial.
